Just because I usually work in charcoal doesn’t mean I’m not still experimenting with other materials!

Here’s one I did a few months back. It’s based on a photograph I took at Dalemain, which is a stately home in northern Cumbria with the most gorgeous gardens. Most unusually, the butterfly stayed still long enough for me to snap it rather than fluttering off the instant I poked a camera at it.

The picture is done in coloured pencils. I had a job getting the colours as vibrant as I wanted them, but I’m still happy with the result. What do you think?
