For our last session of Windermere Art Society for the season, there was a fantastic demo and workshop on the techniques of drawing in waterproof ink and then highlighting with watercolour.
I enjoyed the session so much I completely lost track of time – in fact the picture was still wet when I came to pack up, and I didn’t even have a chance to thank the tutor properly!
I used a photo of the cormorant sculptures on the promenade at Morecambe, which I’d drawn before but not tried with watercolour. I was really surprised and happy at how the piece turned out, and liked the “illustrative” quality that the technique introduced. I’m hoping to try more soon.
