pen and ink sketch of yachts on Windermere on a showery day

Watery Waterhead

No more welly boot stands! Yesterday I was back to my comfort zone of Lake District scenery, thanks to a lovely sketching session with a couple of friends at Waterhead (the head of Windermere).

The weather was a bit chilly – and showery – so we had a cuppa at the Pier cafe and they were kind enough to let us sit indoors and sketch the view. And wow, what a view! You can see the lake, complete with yachts, and Loughrigg rising up behind, with some of the higher fells half-visible in the rain beyond that.

Nice coffee, friendly staff, good company, wonderful scenery – a super morning all round! ❤️
